We are a small, friendly Survey firm based in Putaruru with over 10 staff members all working to make your experience with us straightforward and successful.
Our surveyors have experience dealing with many different Councils and interpreting the various rules in the District Plans that subdivisions and developments must comply with. They will listen carefully to understand your needs to give you the best advice on how to maximise the value of your land.

Tim has many years surveying experience in the rural sector and in industrial measurement techniques. He has owned Nicholson Surveying Ltd for over 25 years and gained a wealth of knowledge in the surveying and business fields.

Tim grew up in the South Waikato and is very keen to see the District thrive and grow.
He gained a Bachelor of Surveying (Hons) degree with honours in 2000 and completed his registration in Wellington. He followed that with three years living in Scotland before Tim Nicholson enticed him back to the South Waikato and he became a director in the business in 2009.
Outside of work he is kept busy helping to run the Cambridge Football Club and keeping up with his three school aged children.
Senior Survey Technician
Phil has been with the team since 1996 as our Senior Survey Technician.
Phil has a range of skills from being out in the field to being in the office doing LT Plan work and is a Level 6 NZQA qualified surveyor.
Phil lives at Puketurua with his lovely wife Heather. Phil has an interest in the outdoors, and you can often see him on his bicycle on the unbeaten track.
Aimee joined our team in 2015 after completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Otago. She has since gained a New Zealand Diploma in Surveying.
Aimee is very proficient in using the 12D draughting software, from basic scheme plans to 3D development design.
On weekends, Aimee is often found doing gardening and DIY around her home in Tokoroa.
Abby joined the team in 2017 as a part time planner.
Abby graduated from Massey University in 2006 with a Masters degree in Resource and Environmental Planning with honours. She has since worked in the planning field in both Scotland and New Zealand and has experience in a variety of projects, particularly water and wastewater infrastructure and roading.
In her spare time Abby enjoys spending time with her children and husband exploring the great outdoors.
Matt is a surveyor who joined us in 2018 after completing a planning degree at the University of Otago.
When not out in the field carrying out constuction surveying & topographic surveys, Matt can be seen in the office working on Resource consent applications.
Matt & his partner Mikayla are enjoying being homeowners in Cambridge.
Colin is our Survey Operator and joined our team in 2006.
Colin is often out in the field collecting the survey data required using our GPS unit and staking our sites.
Colin has a vast knowledge of surveying and its rules and regulations.
Colin lives in Putaruru and enjoys the outdoors.
Rachael is our Accounts Manager and joined the team in 2015.
She is a mum to three beautiful children and when not a work is doing the sport trips with her kids and husband Tim.
Office Manager/Health & Safety Officer
Leeanne joined the team in June 2019 as our Office Manager/Compliance Administrator.
Leeanne brings with her years of experience in office administration and, having previously worked at another surveying firm, a great knowledge of the resource consent administration process.
Leeanne and her husband moved back to her home town of Putaruru in 2016 for a lifestyle change.
